Is A Cthulhu Archetype Emerging?
In the middle of a blog conversation, someone mentioned that he was an avid fan of Batman as a child. While reading a compendium of Batman comics, he encountered an emergent consciousness of Batman that apparently arose from years of people reading and meditating on the persona of Batman. Perhaps it could be described as an emerging Jungian Archetype.
At this point, I wish I could give a link to the original blog posting. I am not sure I am relaying the story right–So if anyone else happens to know of it, feel free to post a link.
Anyway, that got me thinking about Cthulhu.
Starting in a story written by HP Lovecraft nearly 100 years ago (The Call of Cthulhu), the mythos of Cthulhu has become very widespread. Every recent US Election has had mock campaigns to elect Cthulhu. “Cthulhu for President! Why settle for the LESSER of the two evils?”
There is a series of parody Christmas songs that feature Cthulhu, like this one.

I thought I would try a Geomancy Question about this;
“Is there a self-aware developing Cthulhu consciousness?”
Evaluated with the house chart, Querent = I, Quesited = VIII, since the inquiry is about the possible consciousness of a being.

The court is interesting, with Fortuna Minor and Acquisitio generating Carcer.
Cthulhu popped up (Fortuna Minor), currently sleeping (Carcer), will attempt to reclaim in future (Acquisitio). This is entirely consistent with the Cthulhu mythos.
Querent Conjunctio and Quesited Acquisitio match in Fire and Air lines.
Conjunctio passes I to III (coming together locally?).
I is Capitular with II, Tristitia, which passes to V. Sorrow in finances and fun/crops is consistent with the Cthulhu mythos.
Also VII and IX are Amissio. Loss to enemies, loss of dreams, also consistent with Cthulhu.
Cardines:
1 Conjunctio Beginning
10 Puella Middle
7 Amissio End
4 Puer Aftermath
Hmmm. Activities that seemed like they would be good ideas at the beginning eventually result in loss and conflict.
Summary
Surprisingly, it looks like there may be a developing Cthulhu archetype with consciousness. Currently sleeping, it may one day awaken and try to seize control.
Maybe it really isn’t a good idea to run Cthulhu for President. We might just elect him...

Your question makes me wonder, though... are archetypes themselves self-aware, or do we imbue them with consciousness ourselves in giving them manifestation? The reference to self-awareness in your question seems like a crucial hinge (that is, there may be an emerging archetype that is not self aware?), and it may be worth coming at your question from a different angle?

And it's a good question about Archetypes, whether they are themselves self-aware apart from us. They do and say surprising things, so possibly the answer is 'yes.' I will try to remember to ask one the next time I encounter one.
Also, do we humans collectively have the capability to bring new Archetypes up from the Collective Consciousness? If the Batman phenomenon is a new Archetype, then the answer would also seem to be 'yes.'--Although I suppose it is possible that the Batman Archetype was already in the Collective Unconscious before the first Batman comic book, and chose to manifest itself through a series of comics, TV, and movies.
The concepts of 'Egregor' and 'Archetype' seem to me to be related. Both run through groups, but I tend to think of Archetypes more as persons, and a group Egregor as more of a shared personality.

Re-evaluating the new significators with respect to each other, V to VII is a Sinister Sextile, but XI to II is a sinister square--So maybe those relationships cancel.
SO... Maybe not entirely without modes of perfection, but what is there seems to be very weak and indirect at best, while still describing the probable effects of the emergence of any Cthulhu-like entity.
