It DOES usually come back to the questions we ask, doesn't it? And so far, I haven't had any luck with "Tell me what I would want to know if only I knew what to ask." ;-)
Thank you for the summary of Plotinus axioms! Plotinus could be talking about Jungian Archetypes. So, a trial substitution:
1) Archetypes are always active; They have no passivity within them. 2) All things are caused by Archetypes; There is nothing that we can "do on our own," so to speak. 3) Everything that has a beginning has an ending.
Hmm, seems to mostly work. I think for #2 I might say 'All things are greatly affected by Archetypes.' Paired with 'there is nothing we can do on our own,' it still seems to work.
I guess I wanted to know if there is a particular deity who recently decided "this cockroach has to get stepped on NOW!" and is infusing the brains of western rulers with stupidity and self-destructive decisions.
It certainly seems that there are a lot more "Liars lying about not lying" and "Stupid people stupidly making stupid decisions out of stupidity." Gaah!
