Whom the Gods would Destroy...

"Whom the Gods would destroy, they first make mad."
Everywhere I look lately there seems to be an epidemic of bad judgement and stupidity, especially in government.  And so the question:

Date: 19 June 2022  21:56 PDST
Question: Is there a deity actively working to destroy the USA?
Mothers; Puella, Puella, Fortuna Major, Puella
Querent:  House I for USA
Quesited: House VIII for deity.

Querent: Puella
Quesited: Via
Translation thru Populus in IX and XII

This is an oddly positive chart;
Via for transformation in VIII, but in love (Puella - I), and Populus translation indicates that the changes will be widespread in philosophy and government.
Cardines are positive; Beginning Puella, Middle Laetitia, End Via, Aftermath Puella.

Two Axes:  V - XI are Puer, so rapid, maybe hasty, action on information, hopes and dreams.
VI - XII Affecting all Professionals/Employees and Government/Power structures.

I take it to mean that, yes, the USA will be 'destroyed' but more in a manner of transformation through love.
Deity is involved, but may be putting these changes into effect for our long-term good,.

You've run into a problem I've come across a lot! Let me see if I can articulate it properly.

I've been studying Neoplatonism a lot lately (first Sallustius, now Plotinus). Three essential axioms of that model of the world are:

1. Deities are always active: they have no passivity within them.
2. All things are caused by deities. There is nothing that we can do "on our own," so to speak.
3. Everything that has a beginning has an ending.

So in that sense, the question you asked, "Is there a deity actively working to destroy the USA?" is tautological—of course there is, and that was the case since the very moment the USA came into existence. But how could one phrase this question in such a way as to avoid the tautology?

A lot of the things I'm interested in turn out to have a structure just like this lurking behind them, so I haven't been able to divine about them—and I suppose that's what's pushed me to study philosophy, since I still want the answers :)

It DOES usually come back to the questions we ask, doesn't it? And so far, I haven't had any luck with "Tell me what I would want to know if only I knew what to ask." ;-)

Thank you for the summary of Plotinus axioms! Plotinus could be talking about Jungian Archetypes. So, a trial substitution:

1) Archetypes are always active; They have no passivity within them.
2) All things are caused by Archetypes; There is nothing that we can "do on our own," so to speak.
3) Everything that has a beginning has an ending.

Hmm, seems to mostly work. I think for #2 I might say 'All things are greatly affected by Archetypes.' Paired with 'there is nothing we can do on our own,' it still seems to work.

I guess I wanted to know if there is a particular deity who recently decided "this cockroach has to get stepped on NOW!" and is infusing the brains of western rulers with stupidity and self-destructive decisions.

It certainly seems that there are a lot more "Liars lying about not lying" and "Stupid people stupidly making stupid decisions out of stupidity." Gaah!
