Mundane Readings for 2023 - USA and Canada

emmanuelg This year, I decided to do two readings, one for the USA alone and one for Canada alone:

Question: How will 2023 go for the USA?
Chart: House
Querent/Quesited: All houses for mundane reading
Mothers: Puer, Populus, Caput Draconis, Fortuna Minor.
I Nation/People: Puer. Conflict and rash decisions over the coming year.
Also appears in IX, so this is a long-term prospect for rash decisions, possibly war.
II Economy: Populus: Passive/Much. Economy largely unchanged. NoCap links to other houses.
III Regional/Nbors Caput Draconis: New start, something new beginning in North America. fig of Lunar nodes; radical change and disruption.
IV The Land: Fortuna Minor: Fortunate occurrence or an unforeseen event. Fig of the Sun, balance, centrality. The land surprisingly does well.
Also the Judge in the Court.
V Perennial Crops/Weather: Carcer: Delayed harvests or delays in growing season. Fig of Saturn, No links to other houses.
VI Workers/Pro's: Puella: Workers and professionals on the ascendancy.
Also appears in X, so workers and professionals have power and high status.
VII Allies/Partners: Albus: Allies understand issues and what is happening but give little practical help.
Also appears in XI, national aspirations. In a chart where Puer in I describes conflict, more action might be a good thing.
VIII Spiritual/Gods: Amissio: Loss. May mean death--But of who, or what? Death of the nation, or an important individual?
Amissio also appears as Witness 2 in the Court, so not reassuring.
On the other hand, Amissio does not appear in X (Politics/Power).
The other meaning for Amissio is generosity, so perhaps the USA will experience mercy from Deities.
IX Long-term: Puer: Linked with I the People, may mean long-term conflict. See comment under I.
X Politics/Power: Puella: Professionals have influence. See comment to VI.
Note also that VI is the house of injuries/illnesses and X is the house of treatments.
Puella in both may indicate resolution to the COVID pandemic, or some other success in a health issue.
If not COVID resolution, maybe significant progress against HIV, or improvements in addictions treatment.
XI. National Goals: Albus: Knowledge of what to do, but maybe not action. Allies not helpful-- See comment to VII.
XII. Restrictions/Limitations: Laetitia: Rejoices in the 12th house. May mean good government-- I certainly hope so!

Judge: Fortuna Minor -- A black swan event or unearned benefit that helps the Land (house IV).

Expecting long-term conflict or even war throughout the year. There will be understanding of national problems, perhaps new understanding of problems but no indication of action to resolve them. Our Allies and partners will understand US problems too but will not be helpful. There may be a medical breakthrough or resolution to a national healthcare problem that leaves healthcare or other professionals with political influence.

30 Dec 2023 – Not a bad reading. There is certainly a lot of conflict related to US involvement in wars in Ukraine and Israel/Gaza. At the beginning of the year I was hopeful that US internal political conflicts might settle down, but now I think there is significant risk of another US Civil War after the next election, in 2024.
Pharmacists have gained some political influence by walking off their jobs en-masse. I didn't see that one coming, other than the general notice of increased political clout for healthcare workers.
Philosophical comments:
What do we really want from a Mundane Reading of any sort?
For me, I would like to get a glimpse of insight into unexpected future events that could hopefully enable me to better plan for them.
Geomancy works well-- often, VERY well!-- with specific questions that have a limited scope, and which are yes-no types of questions.
For example, “Will our cats be OK while we are on vacation?” or “Is it best for me to start to do Essene Healing in 2023?” You get a Yes or No answer, and often additional details when the figures pass to other houses or form new associations.
The other kind of reading is the general question, as in, “How will today go?” For me, I generally get one or two insights into the coming day that generally result from two of the same figure in different houses. If I get three of the same, I understand that to mean 'Pay attention!'
The general question “How will 2023 go for the USA?” is likely not to yield much detail. The internal structure of Geomancy (limited –though large-- set of possible combinations and figures generated from other figures) combined with the gigantic size of the question puts some limits on what can be done.
Even if the insights are few, they can cause us to meditate on areas that we didn't consider, and maybe do more readings and investigations. There's always value in getting shaken out of the usual tracks of my thinking!
For 2024, I plan to focus on the Court Story and pay close attention to links between figures that appear in different houses. I plan to pay less attention to figures that don't repeat. We'll see if that's a better strategy!
