Fortuna Minor and the Black Swan

I have been meditating on Fortuna Minor, since it seems to be coming up for me these days in positions of significance. I have heard that there are Geomancy decks of cards available--I haven't seen any, but it occurred to me that it might help my meditations to try to draw one for Fortuna Minor. You see here what I have so far!

Fortuna Minor is active in Fire and Air, passive in Water and Earth. JMG mentions an image of a flag on top of a mountain. "What could describe fire and air?" I ruminated at one point. "Well, perhaps a meteor--" So I put one into the picture in red and yellow, the colors for Fire and Air.

Fortuna Minor is all about sudden changes--Possibly a fortune lands in your lap, but as quickly goes away again. You have not earned it and don't know how to manage it. Or it could be a sudden misfortune like a meteor strike.

What other metaphors do we have for these kinds of things?
Perhaps the Black Swan phenomena, so well described in the book of the same name by Nicholas Nassim Taleb. I put in a black swan in flight.

The river below, and the green mountains stretching to the horizon are pretty much taken from the view you get from the garden-like top of Mount Revelstoke here in British Columbia--I highly recommend it, once they open that national park again!

A question: Why is it that, every time I turn around, I find Spiritus Mundi poking me in the ribs with Fortuna Minor?

Perhaps there is a Black Swan Event in my future that I should investigate.

Ordinarily, A Black Swan Event is, by definition, something that no one saw coming because it falls outside of everyones' framework of possibilities. After it occurs, everyone looks back at the event and says, "I should have seen THAT coming!"
Nope. If you had been able to see it coming, it would not be a Black Swan Event.

I am beginning to see that Geomancy (and likely other methods of divination) are a way to get clues about Black Swan Events before they happen--A real benefit!

So of course, I did some geomantic readings on it--

17 Aug 2020 - 'Will there be a black swan event by 1 Jan 2021 that Geomancy can reveal?







Querent in 1 is Acquisitio, I am pretty sure house 11 is the one I want for Quesited, since I do not know the nature of any Black Swan Event, or whether there will be one. If 11, then the Quesited is Puella.

Both of these seem positive--And indeed there is a lot of symmetry and linkages in this chart--

Acquisitio is in 1 and seven--Contracts/conflicts/marriage/deals/war
Puella shows up in 11 and 9 -- Long journey, philosophical/phys distance
Also Rubeus in 3 and 5 - Neighbors/family + fun/crops/sexuality- Major drama/intrigue/deceit here.

Also noteworthy, but significance questionable;
House 2 - Cauda Drac - End of finances
House 6 - Via - Professionals/professions in transformation;
House 8 - Laetitia - Joy; My magic/death/spiritual entities - probably my magic going well.
House 12 - Puer - Government/authorities bearing the sword; rash action or bold action.

Hmmm, pretty interesting.

How many days until the black swan event that's before 1 Jan 2020?







We use the Quesited on the Shield Chart to get an estimate of the number of time units--in this case, days;
Quesited is Puer, thus the number of days is 120 or 79.
Since 17 Aug 2020 is the 230th day of the year, adding 120 days gives 350 days, or 15 Dec 2020.
230 + 79 days would be day 309, or Nov 4 2020 - The day after the US Presidential Election.

Reconciler is Rubeus.
There is no Way of Points
Index house is 10 Laetitia
Part of Fortune is 2 Tristitia.

Querent Puella and Quesited Puer with a judge of Conjunctio and a Reconciler of Rubeus is a result I would expect to see if I had asked about a love affair! ;-)

So perhapts it is a happy Black Swan Event?

It is probably a mistake to look at the House Chart in this case, but looking at it as if it was a "How will your day go?" type of question has, for me, the feel of a "Old order of things gets turned upside down, but it works out for the best" sort of message. Also a feeling of working together with colleagues to cure a disease or other malady;
Significance is uncertain--

1 - Querent - Albus/wisdom
2 - Tristitia - Sorrow in finances
3 - Conjunctio - New connections with family and neighbors
4 - Cauda drac - The End appears in the house of finality. A big Ending.
5 - Tristitia - Sorrow in plantings/sexuality/rain
6 - Fortuna Major - professionals building cures for illnesses?
7 - Puella - love in house of lovers/partners/contracts/(war)
8 - Rubeus - deceit/drama in my magic/spir entitiees/death
9 - Fortuna Major - Long (philosophical) journey, building success.
10- Laetitia - Joy in career/reputation/med treatment.
11- Albus - Wisdom comes to friends,associates, hopes promises wishes.
12- Via - Transformation in the house of government/restrictions/limitations.


Additional Random Thoughts

Fortuna Minor does not appear in either reading on the possible Black Swan event, so maybe I am barking up the wrong tree to think of Fortuna Minor as a sign of black swans.
That said, I will probably continue to add to the picture at the top of the post. I could see adding a guy sitting in a chair at the base of the flagpole who is knocked from his chair by the shockwave of the meteor crossing overhead. He would have to have big bones, a big nose and a beard, maybe wearing a uniform with a gold stripe on the pants. I'm not sure I have the artistic skills for that!

Also I am not sure of the scale of the Black Swan event - Does it mostly affect me, is it global, or possibly something to do with the US elections?
